Using JAVA applications to access internet in BSNL GPRS / CellOne GPRS

It is a common problem among new GPRS users of BSNL that they cannot access internet using the JAVA apps. This article shows the solution for this problem.

The popular JAVA apps like Yahoo Go, Opera Mini, Nimbuzz Messenger, Gmail Mobile cannot access the network using the default settings sent by BSNL.

First make sure that you have activated GPRS in you account. Click here to see how to activate GPRS in your BSNL mobile.

For accessing GPRS/EDGE using Java apps you'll have to make a new accesspoint and activate that access point. Here are the steps to be performed in a NOKIA handset.

Goto Menu > Settings > Configuration > Personal Config Settings
From Options menu select Add new
Add a new accesspoint
Account Name: javapoint(As you like)
Accesspoint settings > Bearer settings > Packet data accesspoint.
Change the access point to gprssouth.cellone.in
Note: Replace south with your zone if you're not in south zone.
Different zones are north,south,east,west.

*Donot add/change any other settings like Data bearer, Username, password, etc.

Goto Menu > Settings > Configuration > Preferred access point
Select your newly created access point.
